DELIGHTFUL DUETS: Alagbada Ina - TY Bello and Msugh Anom

TY Bello

When TY Bello released her current album, The Morning SongBook on October 10, 2014 (10-10-2014), there were a couple of songs that I was immediately drawn to.

One of them was the 2nd track titled, Alagbada Ina.  From the moment I heard it, I knew it was just a matter of time before I would share it here.  So, here I am sharing it with you! :-)

DELIGHTFUL DUETS: Ku'se - Psalmos and Kenny K'ore

How often do you come across a duet sang in Yoruba?  Rarely.  What about a duet sang in Ekiti dialect? Even rarer.

So, now you know why I had to share this song with you.  It's titled Ku'se by Psalmos, featuring Kenny K'ore, and it's a must-listen-to-by-fire-and-by-force.

Ku'se literally means "Well done" and it's a song of thanksgiving and praise to God.

Delightful Duets: Elfrida and Uchman - We Stand in Awe

My first impression when I heard the opening lines to Elfrida and Uchman's duet "We Stand in Awe" was "Here we go again ..."

Over the last couple of months, I had listened to a series of gospel songs that made me wonder if there was hope at all for Nigerian gospel music.

But when I heard this song, I felt relief.  Those harmonies, the song arrangement ... There is hope after all.

Delightful Duets: PITA - Ebamirababa Featuring Olufunmi Olajoyegbe

Ebamirababa is the title of a popular Yoruba praise and worship song, which roughly translates to "Help me dance" for God (I am grossly understating what "ra ba ba" means).  P.I.T.A (Praise in the Age) teams up with Olufunmi to render his own version of the song, complete with new verses and other additions.

Delightful Duets: 'I am Yours' by Muyiwa Akhigbe and Preye

I was browsing through ReverbNation sometime last month and came across this artiste's profile.  His name is Muyiwa, and he is a student of Covenant University.

This song, 'I am Yours' which he sings with Preye, was one of the first songs I listened to and liked.  It's kinda, sort of a duet.

Delightful Duets: 'Someone 2 Love' by Nikki Laoye and Jeremiah Gyang

For some strange reason, there have been fewer duets in Nigerian gospel music than before.  Now, there have been solo artistes featuring other people on their songs, but no 'real duets' with the harmony and all the "vocal effizee" we traditionally expect from a duet.

So, I have decided that when I find a really good one, I will share it here.  If you come across a duet you would like to see featured here, kindly send the details to me at music@therelentlessbuilder.com

To start things off, here is 'Someone 2 Love' by Nikki Laoye and Jeremiah Gyang.  Originally released as one of the songs from Nikki's debut "Angel 4 Life" album, I fell in love with this song from the moment I heard it on NotjustOK, a few years ago.
