What You Sow, You Shall Reap

I once heard a preacher say that the first half of the year should be spent sowing the word of God through deliberate confessions, so that you will have a harvest to gather during the second half.

This bible verse often reminds me of that Pastor's words:

Those who sow in tears
will reap with songs of joy

Psalm 126:5 (NIV)

I think quite often we assume that sowing is supposed to be easy.  Effortless.  However, this verse reminds us that sowing is hard work, and can even be a very painful process.  But, the harvest that comes afterwards makes it worth all the trouble.

Of course, there are seeds we sow that take years to grow and mature, but inevitably, there is a harvest coming.  If we take this seriously, then we should be careful to sow only what we want to reap.

Thanks RB, you just reminded me that sowing can be painful sometimes.

Joy: You're welcome. I also needed the reminder.

Nollywood Reinvented: I thought I was the only one who felt the first months of the year were difficult to get through. Keeping our eyes on the harvest keeps us focused and on track. It's hard though ...

A principle that never fails

@ilola

Atilola: That's precisely what it is: a principle. And it will work for anyone who applies it.

I'll add that recognizing the time to harvest is key too. God help us understand the times and seasons...

Michael: That's quite true. We can't talk about sowing and reaping without taking times and seasons into consideration. Ecclesiastes 3 lays that out quite clearly.
