God is at Work in Your Life

16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

2 Kings 6:16-17 (NIV)

In 2 Kings 6, the Bible records the story of Elisha and his servant, Gehazi.  The King of Aram had sent his soldiers to capture Elisha for warning the King of Israel of going to places the Arameans planned to attack.  It was like having a spy in the Aramean camp, revealing their secrets and telling it to the Israelites, during a time when both parties were at war with each other.

The interesting part of the story concerns Gehazi who began to panic when the Aramean soldiers arrived to capture Elisha.  They surrounded the city with an army of horses and chariots just to capture one man!

Now you can understand Gehazi's fear.  Yet, Elisha told him not to be afraid.  Why? Because those who were with them far surpassed those who were against them.  Once Elisha prayed for God to open Gehazi's eyes, Gehazi saw what Elisha saw and knew then that God was at work.

I believe that most times we are like Gehazi. We look at the hardships and problems we face through the filter of "common sense" and human knowledge, and conclude that God is not in this with us.

But that is far from the truth.

It takes spiritual maturity and divine revelation to stand in the position that Elisha did, i.e. to see beyond the physical into the spirit realm.  Once that happens, you will know that God has your back. It will be clear then that your prayers are working and you'll be encouraged to pray more.

When it seems like you're praying and nothing is happening, that is not the time to stop praying.  Ask God to open your eyes to understand what is really happening.  When he opens your eyes, you will see that you are not fighting this battle alone.  Just because you cannot see the wind does not mean it is not there.  In the same way, just because you don't see immediate results to your prayers, does not mean they are not effective.

Go back and meditate on the word of God, on those promises that can never fail.  We must press on to know God beyond the limits of our physical senses.  That's what walking by faith is.

So, keep praying, keep praising, keep reading and meditating on God's word.  God is certainly at work in your life.

Amen, Amen, Amen. Such a true reminder, we need "spriritual maturity and devine revelation to see beyond the physical" to know that despite what we fear or can't see, God and his host are with us.

Highly Favored

Thanks for the encouragement Dear!
