Unswerving

Encouragement
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for he who promised is faithful.
Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
This is probably one of the few posts where I actually use just one word in the title. I think it is worth celebrating.
Today's scripture is one of my favorite ones simply because it does not shy away from the fact that discouragement will come. There will be times in life when you will be sorely tempted to give up. I have faced those times myself. It's just one of those things we all have to deal with. But how you handle it is what matters.
At the beginning of my law school career, someone (I don't remember exactly who) gave this profound bit of advice: Treat law school like a marathon; pace yourself. I believe the same rule applies in life.
Life is a marathon and it makes sense to pick a steady pace and stick to it. The keyword here is "steady." Hebrews 10:23 (the verse above) talks about holding onto the hope we profess unswervingly. The word "unswerving" means to be steady, unfaltering. It sounds just like the law school /marathon illustration, doesn't it?
Whatever it is you're hoping and believing God for, you have to constantly remind yourself that God is faithful. And in order to do that effectively, you have to keep your hope in God steady. Don't waver, don't doubt, don't even toy with the "What ifs." What works for me is casting my mind back to the significant things God has done in my life that I am thankful for. Add those personal testimonies to solid promises in the word of God and that "unswerving" hope you need to have will grow. Try it today.

Yes o! Treat law school, nursing school, med school, pharmacy school, (you know we Nigerians can like to go to Professional schools more than the rest of the world) like a marathon.
Lol... I actually only clicked cos it was a one word title and I was curious. But true talk though
Nollywood Reinvented: Yes o, it's a marathon. And Nigerians no dey carry last. We are an ambitious bunch, I must say.
Lol at your reason for clicking. Ah well ... This one-word post title might re-surface yet!
