6 Artistes You Should Listen to This Week: Christmas Edition

With all the Christmas shopping and heavy spending that is going on this season, we need to be reminded of just what exactly we are celebrating. Jesus is the reason for the season. I have said it.  Now, let these six artistes sing it to you in their own words.  Music conveys the message effectively, don't you agree?

Oh, and before I forget, Merry Christmas! Have an awesome, fun-filled, joyous, fantabulous (okay, enough adjectives.  Let me save some for 2014) Christmas!

1. PCE Crew - Silent Night / O Holy Night (Acapella Medley)

PCE Crew is a Nigerian gospel / Christian group consisting of five men based in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) area in the US.  Earlier this year they released their sophomore album titled Rewired.  After 'dashing' their fans two songs from that album ('Nobody' and 'Winna Remix'), they are rounding off the year with two Christmas singles, sang acapella (no music).  I think they should perform more acapella songs.  Enjoy 'Silent Night' and 'Holy Night' below:

2. TJ Beenie - Yuletide Groove
Featuring Toluwalope

TJ Beenie (Toluwase Ebenezer Ayo) and Toluwalope Ayo (nee Adebowale) are both gospel musicians.  They are also happily married to each other.  I had previously featured Toluwalope here with her single, Baba Mimo.  In this Christmas single, TJ Beenie plays the piano, and Toluwalope of course, sings sweetly.  The medley prominently features a popular / classic Yoruba Christmas song, Gbo Ohun Awon Angeli (Hear the Voices of Angels).  Listen to 'Yuletide Groove' below:

3. James Numbere - Viva Jesu
(Long Live Jesus)

James Numbere is a gospel artiste based in Port-Harcourt and according to his press release, "he grew up with music all around him, and has been singing since he could talk, with his siblings and in Church." Viva Jesu (Long Live Jesus) is hus first Christmas single, which asks "listeners to join the heavenly host to sing and rejoice as they did some thousand years ago the night Jesus was born." Listen and enjoy Viva Jesu below:

4. Jid-Vocals - The King's Party
(Merry Christmas)

Jid-Vocals who made his debut on this blog with his single, Kabio'osi (Royalty), is a Nigerian gospel artiste based in Ukraine.  The King's Party is his Christmas single with a 'Niger Delta feel,' which "paints the picture of a merry season, the celebration of the King of King`s and a grateful heart toward God`s incomparable gift to us in the person of Jesus."  It was produced by Victor Sheun of Swagbeatz Ukraine.  Listen and enjoy below:

5. IK Worships - True Christmas

IK Worships (Ikpemhosi Amakhabi) who is a worship leader and gospel artiste, made his debut on this blog with Akamaranma.  Since then, he has released other singles (Look at Me Now), including a Christmas single, titled True Christmas.  Although, True Christmas was released last year (2012), it is still relevant today.  Why? Because Christmas is timeless :-)  Enjoy and listen below:

6. Dach-Mo - Emmanuel (God With Us)

Dach-Mo // ReverbNation

Dach-Mo (Solomon Dachomo) is a gospel artiste based in Jos, Plateau State.  He was one of the first artistes I featured on this blog (Babu Kamarka and Babu).  This Christmas single titled 'Emmanuel' was released a few years ago, but I never shared it.  No time like the present, ba?  Enjoy and listen below:
